Happened to be first caller on this 1936 Silver King R38 SN 1016, that I saw posted on craigslist, so I was given first chance of all the callers. Since I was at work dad went and looked at it and bought it for me and hauled it home. Had run a few years ago, is stuck now and needs a manifold. Now if I could get the trans parts for my model 41 that was sold from the farm almost 60 years ago, I got it back last year, we could hopefully get both going. I would like dad to be able to drive model 41 once again, but he wants us to get both going to take across Mackinac bridge as my brother did last weekend with the dads Super 77. Maybe by next year.... Ross

Heres a pic of R38, neat little tractor

Nice find! They are neat tractors! Are you a member of the Silver King Club or been to their annual show in Plymouth, Oh? There's a place reproducing the missing rear hubcaps on your tractor if your interested let me know. What parts you needing for the model 41 transmission?

Hi Rboots, congrats on getting a nice tractor looks pretty complete in the pic are you going for a complete restore or just getting up and running working good?
GB in MN

Thanks, MNGB, I would like to get it up and
running first, check everything over, replace all
the seals on the tractor, then restore it. Engine
was stuck pretty bad, cylinders were full of
water, but i was able to break it free after a
week of trans oil in the cylinders and honing
what I could above the pistons. Took clutch
cover off and was able to get good leverage on
the flywheel with a bar. Took trans cover off,
looks real good, so I will rebuild the engine, then
check all the bearings in the tractor. After that I
will replace all the seals and gaskets on the
tractor, I hate leaks. Then will come the paint
work, lol

Hi JFred, Im not a member of the silverking club, I have been trying to figure out who to contact to join, but haven't had any luck. My 41 is a long story, the owner that bought it from our family almost 60 years ago had problems with the transmission and took it apart. It passed through 2 other owners hands with the trans parts, and others in a box. The parts sat in a box on a shelf at the last owners house in a back shed. At
Some time ago, the shelf collapsed, dumping the parts on the dirt floor for apparently quite a while before they were noticed. The pinion gear and another gear are pitted so badly they are unusable unfortunately and some other parts were lost either there or in the shuffle between owners. Here is what I need, along with the part numbers from the Silver King parts book.
Part no. PTA 4-3, reverse shift fork, need 1
Part no. PTA 4-4, shifter fork, forward speeds, need 1
Part no. PTA 4-5, shifter lug, need 2
Part no. PTA 4-8, shifter interlock pin, beveled ends, need 2
Part no. PTA 4-34, bevel pinion shaft, 7 teeth, need 1
Part no. PTA 4-28, gear, 2nd and low speed, need 1

Also need a PTA 26-3 and PTA 26-2 seat spring and brace, a PTA 10-16 brake housing cover, and the bolt that holds the front wheel on, not shown in my parts book.

If you give me your email address I'll email you a few contacts who may have some or all of the tranny parts you need along with the person to get ahold of to join the Silver King club. I may have the brake cover you're needing. Depends what model you have as there are several different styles. Are you only needing 1? If so does your other one have a casting number of 4067 with a standoff in the top of it? I'm assuming your 3 wheeler has the continental engine? Where are you from, Ohio? Thanks
