The pull switch for my starter failed this weekend, It has been fiddled with over the years, current install has a "Nut" with a wire wrapped thru the nut going under the dash, have not had time to take anything apart yet as I need the tractor to cut hay, am currently crossing the solenoid with a screw driver to get by, was hoping I could find the proper replacement somewhere, however, not sure what I should be looking for as the current one is not likely right... Anyone know what I should be looking for???

Thanks,

Leo

The pull switch is two stage. The first stage runs the manifold heater. Second stage engages the starter. Before you change the switch check the manifold heater. If it is the flame thrower type (looks like spark plug with a fuel line) It can short and burn up wire. This takes all power from starter.

Interesting, i really know very little about this tractor, I have had problems before where it would not even try to turn over, then suddenly would, now when I pull the switch absolutely nothing happens. I will try to see if I can figure out where this manifold heater is and if it is shorted. Right now It does start if I turn on the key and use the old screwdriver trick on the starter.

thanks,

Leo
