The floor and frame of my 1949 Earthmaster was orange. The rest rattlecan red. Most restored Earthmasters I see are orange, but some are red. Did the factory start with orange, then painted over in red? I used a Ford red orange paint. It matched up well with the frame color. Mine is from the California plant. Any help?
 
Hi Dan, from my research all the tractors produced in Calif were orange and the last few built in NC were red with yellow trim now this is not gossple but as far as I can tell that's it. Where are you located are you restoring your tractor? I'm in MN and painted mine red with yellow trim (because I like red and orange not so much).

I'm near Stanwood WA, about 40 miles north of Seattle. Mom and dad are from the Red River Valley in North Dakota. Mom is from Hoople and dad from Hensel. They got me started on farm stuff at an early age. We have a fence around the property to protect the neighbors property values. Dad got the Earthmaster in the early 70s. I'm a member of the Lyndon antique tractor club.
 
The 49 Earthmaster didn't need much restoration. Just paint and a reworking of the exhaust. It now goes straight up. I did buy a parts tractor from a neighbor. Its beat up, but has most of the parts. I may redo that someday. PSATAMA, Puget Sound Antique Tractor and Machinery Association. That's the local club I'm a member of. They have a big show each year in Lyndon WA
Thanks so much for the color info. I wonder why there was no orange on the tin above the frame.
 
Hi Dan good to hear your tractor is pretty good condition, paint will spruce it up good, are you thinking of going with the unser the hood muffler, the B&S muffler I used is no longer available anywhere I searched for them was helping a fellow Earethmaster restorer for Mi all we could come up with now is a muffler for a Kohler and that had a larger inlet than the 1" but he thought could make it work. As I understand it some of the tractors came or could be gotten with the vertical exhaust muffler. Are you a member of the yahoo Earthmaster group lots of good information there on the tractors.
I'm in west centeral MN about 80 miles from Fargo right on I94.

Hi Gene, that's good information to know, I was pretty sure they came from the factory with vertical mufflers but not positive, also good to know the AC "B" mufflers works.
