I can't seem to keep the hydraulic oil where it belongs in my 1755.

Last fall I determined that I had oil leaking through the PTO (Quad rings?) into the gear compartment. I had topped of the tank, ran the tractor for 2 hours spreading manure, and then had to add a half a gallon to bring the tank back to where it was before I started. I blocked off the PTO line, ran the tractor at 1600 rpm for an hour and the tank stayed full. So that is a problem I need to fix.

That was probably 5 months ago. I ran the tractor the other day for 5 minutes, just to see if it would start. That is the only time it has been running since I blocked off the PTO line. Today I check the hydraulic tank and I am not anywhere near the end of the dipstick. I would say I am a half to a full gallon low.

Can anyone tell me where that oil went over the winter?

Thanks.

First off is your rearend housing overfull? If it is the pan under the rockshaft housing for hydraulic oil is cracked or has a hole wore into it from the bull gear in the rearend. I"ve had this happen on a 1600 .
