I just bought this little machine and was wondering what kind of motor was in it. I don't plan on tearing it apart but just in case. Looks like it's a model G5. It won't start after sitting for 15 years. I think it's just sticky valves.

Do you have any idea what year this was built?
I'm guessing from the serial# there wasn't a lot of them.
 
I suspect its one of the last years built, judging by the engine choice.

Worthington sold out to the Jacobsen mower (Racine Wisconsin) company about 1953. (I remember talking to a fellow who went to work for them right after his time in Korea.) Jake carried the line for many, many years under their name. They were primarily built to tow the ground driven reel mowers used on golf courses and other large tracts.

C.C. Worthington is also the same Worthington that had the Worthington Pump and Compressor Co. He also built the Shawnee Inn and Country Club (1907) in eastern PA. I knew two of his grandchildren, two other brothers owned a Jake franchise in Mass (Sawtelle Brothers) Check out Shawnee.com
 
Not sure on the G-5, G-6 had the red seal 162 Continental. If a Ford I would think it was the 134, same as 600 Ford, see Worthington Chief, on the Worthington Golf Course tractor web site.

I have a story like yours....same timing etc. it just landed in the driveway last night! Did you ID the engine and is it 6 or 12 volt?
If you find any worthwhile books on it let me know.

We have one at the campground to pull kids on the wagon ride . I found it sitting in a shed for many years . It says Dodge on the grill and has a chev 250 6 cylinder. So I ordered that tune up kit and the engine started . That was in 1994 and we still use it today.
