I have a 1948 Leader Tractor and I need to replace the ?Grease / Oil? in the fan hub. There is no bushings or bearings in this assembly. There is a cup about the size of a shot glass at the end where the shaft goes through so it can be bolted to the support. What do you use to keep the oil or grease inside to lubricate the hub. I believe there use to be some kind of material known as "Packing" that might have been wrapped around the shaft where it goes through the back end of this cup. Right now I am stumped. The shaft itself is stationary and the outside moves with the belt.

I learned what "Packing" was, on a Model A Ford,
55 years ago. McMaster-Carr, Baum Hydraulics,
Graingers, still sell Packing, of various types
and grades!
