Gibson model D 1948

Hi, I am VERY new to this. I work at a truck dealership in Washington and we have a customer tht is working on a 1948 D-model Gibson. Does anyone know about the brakes and wheel cylinders? He need new ones and we don't have cluse how to locate the proper parts, etc. Any assistance would be great!

I really don't think there is any wheel cylinders for the brakes on a D model. I maybe mistaken even that I have a model D. It probally needs adjusting. Here's what the manual says. "The brake drums are mounted on the rear axles and enclosed in the rear axle housing. The brake bands should be loose enough to allow a slight free movement of the pedals before the brakes are engaged. Adjustment is made by means of an adjusting nut and lock nut on the top of each rear axle housing.To tighten the brake bands, loosen the lock nuts and turn turn the adjusting nut clockwise until a slight drag is felt on the brakes. Then back off slightly and retighten the lock nuts. Hope this helps.
 
What I am actually looking for is the manufacturer of the drum..... It appears to be automotive in construction; possibly plymouth?? I thank anybody that can help.
 
I have attached pics of the drums and their backing plates. We are looking for the manufacturer of the drums, etc so we can order "new" internals for our customer..... He is restoring a 1948 D model. Thanks again for any assistance.

What you actually have is an early Gibson model A. They did use a Plymouth rear end. I think you will find some good info in the files section of the Yahoo Gibson group here. http://www.yahoogroups.com/group/Gibson-Tractor
