Treat everything in/on the engine reverently; I haven't heard mention of ANY Stearns engine parts sources, other than other collectors and possibly some of the profe$$ional obsolete parts dealers. olsonsgaskets.com (highly spoken of) and gasketstogo.com (sponsor on smokstak site) can make any heeded gaskets, as well as other outfits that'll come up on Google. Stearns engines didn't appear in very many tractors, but were heavily advertised to the road/heavy const eqpmt builders, and looking for info/parts should include hcea and the Cat sites, on the premise that Cat collectors/enthusiasts know a lot of people with old heavy eqpmt pieces lying around. A 38 Victor catalog shows the EU as 51/2x61/2 and lists it with two others of the same b/s: the MEU and MER, but, oddly, lists the cyl head gasket as fitting the BU (5x61/2), the DU (51/8x61/2) and the EU, but not the MEU or the MER...ahhhh: the MEU and MER were marine engines, probably with more water cooling in a special head. That could be another place to look for parts/info: marine engine sites like oldmarinengine.com. With sympathy, Bud |
