Shepherd Diesel

When I was a kid, I remember reading ads in farm magazines for a Shepherd Diesel tractor. I have never seen one and just wondering if many were sold and if many still exist?

Here's a link to their history. They were made in PA not far from where I live. Our neighbor had one in 1955 when I was discharged from the Army. I think it would pull a 3 bottom plow. Hal

They have a club and hold a national show every year. It changes locations, but this year it was at Greenville, IL. Very nice display!

Gentlemen, I do appreciate your response. I tend to forget that you can google about anything and find info. on it. (I am not that computer literate just yet) Or, (You CAN teach an old dog new tricks, but it takes a little longer).
I find it fascinating to look up info. on various companies of the past, especially in the field of farming and automotive. I find that many companies are still in business as in this instance Sheppard just dropped the farm tractor line but still manufactures other equipment. Thanks again for the replies.

Shepherd Diesels, some models had the same rear end as a Cockshutt 30. The engines had too much power for the rear end. My Pappy wrecked several in years gone by

You see 'em at shows, they made several models...SD-2, SD-3, SD-4, etc. Number referred to number of engine cylinders and plow bottoms the tractor could pull. They made conversion engines for Farmalls too, they usta say you could make an H out of an M by putting in a Shepard Diesel engine.

They made a 1,2,3,and 4 cylinder Sheppard tractor. The rarest are the 1 cylinders, only a few around. The 3 cylinders were the biggest seller, made around two thousand IIRC.The 2 and 4 cylinder tractors are rarer,I believe around 200 of each were built.I have a 2,3 and 4,and a M conversion engine, don't know how many of those there are,but I wouldn't think many.Sheppard now builds steering boxes for big trucks.
