can anybody help me with my engine rebuild? i bought a 1985-87 Long 5N1 backhoe with a spun bearing the crank had been turned once so i bought a new crank & bearings a gasket kit,rings etc now i am having it rebuilt & the engine guy says the pistons are junk the liners are bad , i need a conn.rod & the injector guy said the injectors are junk the problem is nobody has anything aftermarket & the pistons 210.00 each this is only for my house i do not want to put that kind of money in it i am in it for too much now anything will help THANKS JONATHAN

Not sure which engine is in your Long... and from your description of 85-87 it may not be a Leyland engine...

But if it is, then parts can be found... Sometimes A&I carry parts...other times i"ve had to look on ebay... you will need to know the engine type, although by the 80s they used a 4/98 engine (if yours is 4 cylinder). I"ve got parts out of the UK before now with no problems...

Your other option is to look for a used engine from a wreckers yard...
 
not really sure of the year but it is a 4 cyl 98 engine some guy was trying to get me to wire some money to the UK via western union & he said he would send parts but it sounded to shady for me do you know where or who in the UK may have parts? thanks Jonathan
