i can put it in any gear with the clutch pressed and without the clutch pressed while its running. it will not move. the PTO still works and will turn when engaged. my clutch still has plenty of pressure when i press it and when it happened, i heard a loud pop, like a hammer hitting a metal plate.

help?

Hi/lo gear lever popped into neutral?

to be honest, it may have but i am not sure where it is. I bought the tractor used from my boss's dad. The only other tractor i've really used is a ford 9N.

and i should correct myself, its a 350, not 360

EDIT, it is a 350 and only has 6 forward and 2 reverse gears.

Is there a load on the PTO and the clutch works it? if it does then

Pull the top of the trans and see what is broken.

This is unsafe. Always have a spotter.
Put it in hi gear, pop the top on the trany.

Block the wheels, pull the kill and carefully spin the starter and see what doesn't move ?

But this is unsafe. Always have a spotter.

Transmission or rear pinion gear, possibly axles or reducers to wheels

there is no load on the PTO. i can engage and disengage the PTO.

With the tractor running, i can put the gearshift in any gear without pressing the clutch and there is no grinding of gears and tractor does not move.

i've took the top plate off and i don't see any gears or teeth broke, or metal shavings. i can spend the gears by hand with no problem.

Might be time to split tractor and check clutch and the transmission input shaft. Clutch disc may have broke.

I would put something on the pto to see if it tries to turn with or with out the clutch. It doesn't take much friction to spin this.

If this is not in gear much should spin in the trans.

Splitting is a good next step, manual twisting of the input shaft tells much. and if parts of the clutch falls out you know
