I was using my NH 499 today and it just stopped. I found some hay wrapped under it on a roller drive shaft. I know I have to replace the top roller also as hay has been wrapping on it too, but not this time. I cleared the hay by cutting it off. It is freed up but still will not run. I hear a whine from the hydro pump when the pto is on. Is there a bypass valve or a check valve there some where? I have been trying to find a book on it but the places here will order it and I'll see it in a week, but hay waits for no man.
