Erickson skid steer history?

Does anyone know anything about the history of the company that made the Erickson skid steers?

They were apparently made in Minneapolis, so mine hasn't strayed far from home. The old guy who sold me a Bridgeport a few years ago claimed to have been the best friend fo the original designer - who had passed on by then. Not much info from him other than he didn't see his friend much for a couple years while he busy designing these back in the 1960s. That's all the info I've gathered on my own.

I have been searching the board and from this board I gather that they were made with different engines and some Erics were sold under the Ford name as the CL30 and CL40. I've seen a picture of a CL40 and it looks just like my Eric 4058, except that my Eric has a roll over / falling objects cage. I also gathered that Ford dropped these when they went to new Holland.

Does anyone have any knowledge to share? Years when the company was in business? Places to get parts? Any info on serial numbers versus date produced?

Does anyone know where I can get a service manual for my Eric 4058 with a Ford Industrial inline 4 cyl 1.6L engine? Any clue on when it was produced? The starter cross referenced to a '78-'80 Ford Fiesta, but that could have been changed out at some time...

Thanks for any info.

Nutter

Nutter, I responded before but I must not have
pushed the final button. Erickson was a Mpls
company but must have liked some secrecy.I have
Mpls yellow pgs from '63 to '78 and I don't find.
Erickson name went to Kinsey. This info in a '95
guide but don't know the year. I believe Gehl also
purch their lst model, the 3030 from Erickson. I
have a 3030 parts manual and a parts book on your
engine. The standard shows to be a V4-104 Ford on
your model but must have had options. We were Gehl
dealers but waited beyond the lst models to start
to sell. Also the Gehl 3030 was only sold with a
Wisconsin Eng. Your model built from '75 to '84.
I'll try to find more info. Also maybe try diff.
site besides "orphan". Good luck Chuck

My husband just purchased a erickson 2548 skid loader, I saw your post and wondered if you knew anything about this type too. It has a 2 cylinder engine in it.

Have a 2548 Erickson skid loader myself. Good machine. Pretty generic hydro parts. Neighbor has one as well. They also made a larger machine.

There is a old Allis Chalmers dealer in Duncan IA that sold Erickson. I have an 3058 hydrostat. Their a nice loader, but they are lightly build. The phone number for Wellik Imp is 1-641-923-2671. They will be able to answer any questions that you have about your loaders. Hope this helps? Adam
