Not sure this is the right terminology, but I have a 242 that has a carriage bearing out of the right side, outside bearing.

Any ideas on the paprt number, or where to find one?

Any chance of removing the bracket, and retrofitting a different bearing into the bracket.

I havent taken it apart yet.

Any ideas.

R

If you are talking about the DISC GANG bearing the Oliver/White part number was 237092B, the Timkin number is W208PPB7. The top 3 bolts in each set of flanges hold the gang to the standards. Lower the disc to the ground, take out the bolts, then lift the disc. As I reacll the gang bolt gets torqued to 400 ft/lbs.

Ian,

Thanks for the info, because of that, I'll have one in the morning.

One question, I removed the bolts from the middle standards also to get the exterior bearing out, but didnt remove the interior. Is there enough play to replace the outer bearing, without putting excess stress on the interior carriage bearing, or should I drop it (interior) from the standards also?

It might be possible to do it that way, but I"ve never tried. It"s enough of a pain in the back to do I just always did both. BTW that bearing number works with ANY Oliver disc with the 1-1/8" round gang bolt and non-greasable bearings.

That bearing should be pretty generic (probably a Timkem brand) and you should be able to get one at your local bearing house or good auto parts store. Once you get the bearing out and if the numbers are legible it shouldn't be a problem cross referencing them.

If you have trouble reading the part # let me know and I'll dig up a manual and see if I can find it.

I got the bearing out, and appears to be a wide 1.187 ID,X 3.154 OD.

First parts store didnt have it. I"m checking implement dealers now.

Thanks.

If I find I need the part number, Ill get back to ya.

Where would the part number be at on the old bearing?

Seems like everyone wants a part number.

AB, if you dont mind, I'd certainly appreciate it if you could look it up for me.

Thanks R
