Oliver 88 flooding

I rebuilt a standard 88 for my brother in law, he said when they parked it the gas had to be shut off or gas would run out of the carb a minute later, I rebuilt his carb when I rebuilt the engine, and it still did it, I took the carb apart and found a crack, I put another carb I had and got it tuned in and it did the same. I took it apart and nothing was wrong, float set correct, I took the carb off my 88 and put that one on, turned the gas on and instantly was running out. I pull my 88 and have a fuel pump on it and never have an issue. I m at my wits end on my brother in laws. I m thinking it has to be something about his fuel line tank or sediment bowl causing it to do it to 3 different carbs
I m very sorry for the length of this post I am just out of ideas

If it's an MS carb, try setting the float gap at 5/16 instead of the 1/4 inch called for. I've been doing that a lot on MS carbs lately to stop float valve leaks.

I put an electric inline fuel shut off on my 77, 500 and 1600. I have them hooked up so when I shut off the
ignition switch, they shut off the fuel. I have pictures, but they're in the other computer. Just do a web search
for one.

It is a ms, I think my best bet is what rrlund says and put a normally closed electric shut off on it, it s not a beauty Queen she s going back to work whenever I can figure this out

Furthermore, if you're getting generic carb kits from Amazon/ebay even auto parts stores or the like, try calling Carburetor Dr. or Mike's and see if they have a kit with a higher quality valve and seat. Some of the tractor carb kits really are terrible these days.

I get my kits from korves but that wouldn t explain why it would still leak even when I put my pullers carb on it that has a 4psi pump and doesn t leak passed when on that

That was going to be my next step when I get home, but I
have no idea cause its a different tank his old one was very
rusted, new bowl and the same brass gas line

I guess there's a chance there's something in the brass line flowing into the port preventing the valve from fully closing.

If the fuel cap is not vented, is there pressure building in the fuel tank from
engine heat causing fuel to flow? I don't know where the fuel tank is located on
your tractor.
Loosen the fuel cap and see if the flow stops...

What I suggest is this. Todays fuels with alcohol the floats sit lower because the density isnt the same as fuel in the early fifties when
carburetor was design. Might have to adjust float to shut off sooner. How much then Im not sure maybe trial and error. Try 1/16 of inch at a
time.
Also run tractor out of fuel by shutting down the shut off at tank that way . It wont be flood out at startup.
