Cockshutt 40 Distributor

Ive recently brought home a Cockshutt 40 with a 230 Buda. The distributor is pretty worn, with quite a lot of side to side slop in the shaft which is making setting the points a challenge. Its an Autolite IAD 6001 1B. Im having trouble locating a new bushing or mechanical advance springs. Any parts I have found on line have been for Bosch dist. Has anyone found a source for parts for thelse? Or am I better off sizing them and having them made at a machine shop.

Whats it worth to upgrade to Electronic ignition? Where did you get the kit from if you dont mind my asking

Pertronix makes a kit for most anything. We have installed them in Cockshutts, Fords, 2Cyl John Deeres, Olivers, Farmalls and others with great results and never had a failure.

So after limited response on the Autolite distributor I took it apart to see what it needed. I found the bushings to be plain Oillite 1/2 ID 5/8 OD 1 long. My local bearing supply shop had them in stock $1.65 each. I had to side drill the upper bushing for the oil wick port and hone about 0.002 off the OD to get a 0.0005 press fit. The flyweight pivots needed cleaned up and lubed, but its back together and running smooth.

THANKS SCOOTER GMC!........., We have the DISTRIBUTOR BUSHINGS and MUCH more for the COCKSHUTT 40 ...PLUS..... ALL the other CO-OP/COCKSHUTT BRANTFORD, ON CANADA built tractors......years 1946 thru 1962.
