2-105 dash warning lights

Am I truly this incompetent? I am trying to replace a bulb under the red plastic cover. When I turn the red plastic cap the entire socket turns under the dash. Same thing happens when I turn the silver ring. Is the silver ring and the red plastic cover the same piece? Do I have to hold back on the socket under the dash to be able to spin off the red cover? I cant believe I am making this so tough.

I don't have any reference handy, but do the bulbs go into a socket that mounts from the back of the dash?

If I was to guess, the nut holding the socket in place behind the plate has come loose allowing the whole light to twist. You probably are going to have to go behind the panel and look.

Then I bet the red plastic cover will unscrew

I was thinking somebody else asked this fairly recently. Unfortunately I don't remember the answer, but it's probably not buried to many pages down.

Just an update here - The sockets have to be pushed out of the dash from behind. Then you give the red caps a 1/4 turn and they will separate from the socket. There is a spring between the cap and socket which keeps everything tight.
