Not quite sure what wire configuration I need to wire my new simple on off switch I picked up from Napa to replace what I believe is the original. Now to just wire it up I only need the power ( battery) coil and the what is now an alternater. I don't need the lights, etc. etc.. Question, would the hot Battery be on one terminal and the coil the opposite and where would the alternater wire go?on the Battery side or the coil side? thanks there farmers, mechaniclly I'm not bad, but electrical? :?

2 wire ignition switch should have one wire going to the amp gauge which should have the battery wire on the same side. Alternator wire goes on the other side. Coil wire on the other lead of the ignition switch

Which alternator wire?

Assuming a common Delco internal regulator alternator. Large output stud on back of alternator goes to one side of ammeter, other side of ammeter to starter switch or solenoid with the large battery cable.

Your switch should feed from the alternator side of the ammeter, and output side of switch to coil. If no ammeter, the charge wire from alternator would go direct to starter solenoid and a wire from there back to power the switch.

If you have an exciter wire from the switch to the #1 pin on the alternator it connects with the wire to the coil.
