1655 oil temperature

What temperature should oil be
after 30 minutes of running?
With an infrared thermometer on
oil filter and thermostat out ,
temperature is 200*. Water
pump seems to be working. There
i's movement in radiator neck.
Block temperature is 195*
Thoughts?

It will be interesting to see if anyone else has ever measured the oil temperature, I haven't. That said, wouldn't you logically expect the oil temperature to be about the same as the block or coolant temperature? The 1655 owners' manual gives the operating temperature range as 155-212 F. My 1655 diesel, with its' current temperature gauge, seems to run in the 205-210 range, other than winter. I would imagine that the oil temperature is about the same. I should admit that I've always been a bit skeptical of the accuracy of gauges, but that's what this one reads.

Oil temp runs hotter than coolant as long as its not over 250 deg. under a load its good. above 250 it breaks down faster.
