White 2-70 transmission input shaft

This morning while using my white, the sprocket coupler seems to have taken off all the splines on the input shaft to the transmission. I have a workshop manual for a 1655, but it's not real clear. Do you have to remove the engine and over/under to get the input shaft out of the transmission?

Thanks,

Bill

I?m guessing you still have to move the motor and o/u out of the way to put on a different sprocket? Right now I have the sprocket moved up on good section splines, but the gap is so large it?s like you would need a chain that?s extra wide to make it work.

Your post got me to thinking about sliding the sprocket further onto the input shaft spline. I can slide the sprocket further onto the input shaft. If I could find a chain coupler 1 inch wider I would be back in business. Probably won?t last that long but at least I can get through hay season. Has anyone ever tried this before?
