2-135 fan belts

Does anybody have the length and width of the fan belts on a 2-135 Series 3? Mine got shredded so bad there's nothing left to measure.

Checked both parts books, OEM part number 166301A for both old and series three. The OEM belts are a matched pair. The 166301A crosses to Gates 9580HD but that is for a single belt, not matched set. Gates dimensions 13mm/.51" top width, effective length 1473mm/58.0"

OK thanks. I thought 1/2 by 58 sounded about right for some reason. When I looked it up on Agco parts book it said something about 58 but didn't say for sure that was the belt length. There's a used one hanging in the shop but I didn't write on the sleeve what it was off of. I suspected it might be from that. I'll take that Gates number to the auto parts store.

I don't know. I just looked it up under a Series 3. Mine's the 17th Series 3 as far as I can tell from the serial number.

I wonder if that is the number for a single belt and the pair is the 166301A. I keep putting off digging out the micofiche, guess I'm going to have to force myself. I have the service bulletins, and the where first used from 1991 when the dealer I worked for closed.

It must be right. The Gates number came up to a Continental A58,but the 166310A came up to an A56. The A56 was too short.

Last update. I got that pair of A58s on there today,but I think 57 inch would have worked better. It took up most of the adjustment to get them good and tight.

When you use a tape measure to go around the pulleys to get a belt size you have to deduct 2 inches to get the correct belt length for an A size belt. So if the measurement around the pulleys was 60" then an A58 would be the correct size.

I'll have to try to remember that. I didn't know for certain about the two inch thing.

It's pretty easy for the A,B, and C section belts..

A=2"
B=3"
C=4"

The belt length is measured to the circumference of the inside of the belt. It is not easy to measure the dimension around the pulleys where the inside of the belt would ride so going to the outside of the pulleys and subtracting these constants makes it easy to size the correct belt.

If one has an intact belt but the markings are gone you can measure the outside circumference and use the constants to determine the belt size too.

here is a link to the Gates interchange. https://www.gates.com/ais , and here is the detail page URL http://www.gatespowerpro.com/Comergent/en/US/adirect/gates?cmd=catProductDetail When using a cross reference, to another cross reference you will run into problems as the manufacturers do not use the same reference points. Some go by OD, some by centerline, and some by ID.
