1800 Oliver carb

Have a Friend who has an 1800 With a bad marvel Sneb Carb(The aluminum one) . His question is if he gets the Zenith replacement carb will he still have/need to use his mechanical fuel pump or can he just go gravity feed. Thanks!

Our 1850 has cast carb we just ran a rubber hose to gravity feed it. Works a lot better, keeps it from getting vapor locked, because the fuel doesn't get as hot from being pumped all the way around the engine. Good luck finding a carb.

It makes me wonder why the factory went to the trouble, and cost, of fitting a fuel pump in the first place!
