5100 down pressure

Has anyone ever used 6100 down pressure springs on a 5100 to get more down pressure for no-till? If so is there any set way to arrange them in the various holes on the parallel arms?

Thanks

The holes are arranged front to back to get increasing down pressure as you move back in the top holes towards the seed meter . The original single spring ones I have seen doubled up (two on each parallel link per side)and if I remember correctly had an adjustment bolt on the top. The later heavy duty springs are a four spring assembly were designed for the 6100 and later planters as they had heavier gusseted parallel links.

White had a heavy duty spring with the bolt to adjust the tension for the 5100 planter. I have used the heavy springs with one on each side of the parallel links. The group of 4 springs for the 6100 might work, but I have not used them on a 5100 planter. If you get to much down pressure on the rows you can take weight off the drive wheels and they will slip which will change the pop.
