Waukesha 283 vs 310 gas engine

Of the two engines, which is the most durable and reliable? The 283 gas in a 1750, or the 310 in a 1850? I know the Perkins Diesel is suppose to be the best of all the engines ever put in a Oliver, but where I live , trying to find a 1850 diesel for my limit of $4500 is almost impossible. I do find gas models of the 1850 and 1750 for that price or less, and I would like to know which is the better engine and tractor? Also when looking at these tractors , what is something to look for that indicates something major is wrong?

Also what is you opinion on a 1755 diesel...good or something to stay away from?

I have a nice 2-105 4100 actual hrs ----1000 on new engine good tires ---fair metal 5750.00 call link_disallowed 7-4 cst ask for larry--or I have a 1850 gas with loader 80% tires metal good 400 hrs on complete engine rebuild 4500

I like my 1755 diesel. Naturally aspirated (non-turbo) so you're not pushing that 310 much and it helps to keep it happy. 55 series hydraulics are wayy nicer than the older 00/50 open-center hydraulics. Plus the 3-speed hydraul-shift is very nice compared to the standard 2-speed hydrapower.
