Super 55 hyd pressure

Pressure is determine by resistance to flow. With that said what pressure do you have? It is controlled by the relief valve. Does your tractor have an external valve?

yes I have valve. I have not put a gage on it yet. The tractor just does not seem to lift as good as it once did, so I'm wondering if the pump is wore out or relief valve needs a new spring. I have had the tractor since 79 and never have been into the hyd system. I'm planning on a oil and filter change this weekend.

Check the pressure before you change fluid in case you need to remove the hydraulic unit. Does the 3 point have the lifting problem or the remote cylinder or both? Does the 3 point cycle? Ifs the hydraulic unit on the side of the unit or in front? A SERIAL NUMBER WOULD HELP!

Everything works. I just remember when I have my fork lift forks on the three point, years ago if I had too much weight on the front tires could be lifted up and down simply by positioning the lever. Now days. It can do that but it is very slow and the engine has to be wide open. Also once the oil gets a bit warmer it gets so it can't. Not scientific but I know it doesn't have the power it once had. This basically is the reason I was asking. The pressure regular has to be set at ???? Presure. What is it? I also guess it is adjustable? I haven't dug out my IT manuals and looked Since I do most investigation at lunch time at work.

Sorry I see I missed some answers. Both my 55's are 1954 units. One is not running right now.
The auxiliary valve sits on the right side right by your right knee as you sit on the tractor. I'll have to get the serial number.

Sounds like you have "pump fade" You need to check the pressure first both hot and cold. Since they are both early models were the increased oil level kits installed? Check the pressure first!

my open time is changing. No touching it this weekend. I don't know what the level increase kit is. The tractor does have a short nipple and coupling installed at the fill port though which does allow a bit more oil. Is that the kit?
