535 combine

Does anyone know of a 535 that might be for sale? I would like it to have a 13 or 14 foot header. I have a 545 with a 4 row narrow and I would like to have the 535 to go along with it. Would really like a 5555 but they are like hens teeth. Put an ad in the classifieds, but no answer. Any help would be great. Email is open. Thanks Adam

The 535 was the same as a 7300 later on wasn't it? There should be a 7300 coming up on an auction here in Michigan in September. I think it might be a red one though. Not sure.

According to CH Wendel's book they were. I've got this crazy idea to keep all my machinery the same vintage as my tractors (50 series). That's why I hadn't considered a 7300 yet. Probably a foolish reason. Thanks for the heads up on the auction.

I would look for a 7300 as that gets you quick attach headers. The was a kit available for the 525 and 535 to a sort of QA, but have only seen it in service bulletins. 535 and 7300 are similar, but not the SAME. Some parts interchange, some do not. Threshing and separating will interchange, variable speed drive parts may or may not depending on year. We ran a 525 with a 13 ft. Hart-Carter floating cutterbar and never ran out of capacity in beans or wheat but wasn't cutting the wheat straw short. I posted a picture of our unit with the header on here a couple days ago. 5555 was not quick attach headers either.

All I will say is good luck. 525's pop up pretty regularly and I usually find 5 or 6 545's that come up throughout the year. I have a 525 right now and eventually when I get the barn space I would like to have a 35 and 45 so I can have the whole set so I keep an eye out just to see what the market on them does. Since I got that 525 9 or so years ago I have only managed to find 2 535's come up for sale. They are not an easy machine to find but the ones that are around seem to be in Illinois. Keep an eye on the Craigslist pages in that area.

10-4. Thanks for the insight. A lot of 525's still here in NY. Cant find any of the others though. Seems like growers went from 525 to 7300 to 8600 or so. My 545 came from Illinois.

The 525 7300 combo must have been the overwhelmingly common trend. Seems like everyone around here did the same thing as well.

We do not see very many Oliver combines in this part of WNY. I wish there were more around us, they must not have been very popular in this area at all. Alot of the other green and red around here.
