It sure is. I have a pretty good reserve on it. I made up my mind it is going to reach it or it's coming back home with me. Now that I have it all cleaned up It still looks pretty good. Don't know where you'd find a nicer one,

Larry,

You?re right, I don?t think you will find a nicer 990. It should bring the big bucks real easy. I also have one but it?s still in its farm clothes. Parts for these guys are hard to find. To get a PTO unit, I had to buy a Massey 98, strip the PTO and resell it for a $1000 loss. It was a hassle but I thought I did OK.

Looking close at your rig, I noticed it is a fully loaded tractor. I see that yours is equipped with a PTO, generator vs alternator, dual sticks, seat back rest, hydraulics w/remotes, front weight bracket, dual 6 volt batteries, and original battery hold down brackets. Also, it looks like you have the optional light weight hubs.

I am guessing it is a 1958 because of the square fender tips. You did a nice job hiding the adapter to 4? stack conversion. Looking at the original fuel filters, I believe you have a perfect 990.

Good luck with your sale, keep us informed and thanks for the photos. I saved them.

By the serial number it is a 1959. I don't think that style fenders had the hand grab handle. When I got the Handle I had to rework the radius on them to get it to fit. With the grab handle and the seat backrest it makes it easy to get on. It is not tractor police correct, but it is like I wanted it. It has a later N series block and cam, also a NEW 4 valve head. Also has WORKING HYDRALECTRIC hydraulics with the correct cables, has a foot throttle and correct gauges. The 18" rear rims are custom built. I spent a couple of days on them so the widening splices doesn't show. The only way you can get a 18' single bevel rim is to make them I believe. I also made the front weight bracket for the slab weights. I have some nice tie downs for the chains that I will post pictures of later. Don't know where you will find a prettier or better running than this one. Have a lot of time and money in this tractor.

The early 59s have that fender style as they were using the old south bend surplus up, there are some other differences also like the axles and steering wheel center cap.

The most cost effective way to get a pto might be to find one from a Waukesha and get a new shaft machined.

The only thing you could add to that real nice tractor is a pto cover! Lol

No, that was the summer auction that brought only $10k, but I don't know how correct everything was. The spring one brought 16k I believe.
