More Oliver 500 reproduction parts

The Oliver 500 used some extended wingnuts up near the radiator to fasten the hood. Mine had the remnants of one so I used it and a picture from the parts manual to make new ones.

I was wondering exactly how that all went in. So with everything correct you would remove the grille to take wing nuts off to take off the hood? My hood is in
really poor shape and part of those brackets are gone.

Yeah, I think the idea was that one could remove the hood without needing any tools. The grille had some kind of "snap-in" fastener at the top and a couple pegs at the bottom. Then the wingnuts in front and spring loaded hooks at the fuel tank to hold the back down.

I kind of wonder about the no tools concept though. I think pretty much any time one would be removing the hood would be with some kind of servicing or repair in mind. Probably have tools on hand in that case.

Ya,those are in front and there are spring loaded latches in back. Those tabs that go down over those studs are good on my gasser, but I had to weld washers on the diesel.
