Half Way To My 2255

To cut a long story short, buddy of mine bought a 3208 powered 84 GMC 7000 with a feed body on it. He was driving it home from the place he bought it and it quit in the middle of the road about half way home. After tearing it down they figured out that a plunger broke in the injection pump but it shut down quick enough it didnt appear to have harmed much else and he said it was running awesome prior to that so it couldnt have been to sick. The truck was marginal at best so he just decided to scrap it out. Now for a few years I have known about a 2255 sitting with a broke crank that I have been keeping tabs on. Short story on the tractor is that it broke its first crank at 38 hours, White installed another one, and it made it to a tick over 3000 hours before it broke the crank again in 1993 and it has been sitting in the guys front yard ever since. A couple years ago I jokingly offered him 2 grand for it and he didnt say no, he just grinned and asked me what I wanted that piece of S@#$ for (he has hated that tractor ever since it broke the first crank). However his sons, who I am friends with from college, have told me that he has actually talked about that offer a few times since, so I do believe I can have that tractor pretty cheap. Naturally it needs work but if I can get a 2255 for 2 grand, holy cow! Needless to say, with that tractor in mind I bought the motor out of that truck for $500 bucks which I didnt figure was to bad for long block 3208 even if it does need a little work. The motor is factory set for 165 and all the seals are still on the pump so it couldnt have ever been worked hard enough to hurt the bottom end. I figure go over the pump with a fine tooth comb and replace that plunger, pull the pan and check the bottom end, swap all the off road engine parts over from the tractor, crank that baby up to about 180-190 on the flywheel and have me one dirt cheap 22! Now I just need to get the tractor. I apologize, I tried cutting this into paragraphs for an easier read but the posting software must not have liked it cause it kept putting about 20 spaces between each word when I tried posting it.

Sounds like a good deal if it works out for you! Hopefully it does, keep us posted. How is the tractor other than bad motor?
