1650 for a 1650

I was at the local tractor salvage yard yesterday where I got my 1650 gas last fall. The motor was stuck when I got it but I had it freed up the same day. I put a hydra motor on it for the steering, new intake and exhaust manifolds, clutch, a seal kit and a I believe and oil collector ring in the hydra power along with new sprockets and a chain coupler. Well my uncles have been using it on the manure spreader all winter and the hydra power started to not hold back on direct drive and now it won?t move at all. When I had the motor out I noticed the splines are worn pretty good on the input shaft to the transmission and it had quite a bit of play in it, I?d suspect it needs a new shaft and bearings. It also could use a pto drive hub and drive shaft. Almost every panel on it is beyond reasonable repair, the fenders and good are definitely shot. I bought the tractor to restore but I?ve already put about $1800 in it and I could probably spend double that yet on it. So while I was at the salvage yard yesterday he had an 1659 diesel, it?s an earlier one with indirect injection. It starts and runs good but has a lot of blow by and the oil looked pretty sludgy. I ran it up the road and back and it runs great and everything works well except the steering. I think the steering motor is bad. I talked with him about trading mine and taking the parts off mine to fix the steering along with swapping front tires and my seat. The tractor is about the cleanest I?ve ever seen, the sheet metal is perfect and it?s all original nothing has been hacked on it or cobbled together. It has good rear tires on it and the hitch and 3 point don?t show much wear, the tach said 6400 hrs and it isn?t working but the tractors right and clean. I?d like to trade mine for it he said he wouldn?t trade straight up I thought of offering my tractor plus a $1000 what do you guys think? The motor started pretty quick yesterday and it was around 30 degeees and it sounds good and doesn?t smoke at all idling or driving but it has a lot of blow by so I don?t know if it?s do for a rebuild or not but I?m not to worried if I end up having to, I?d rather wrench on them than do body work.
