550 Carb Kit

I'm looking for a carb kits for one of the 550's I bought. It has a Marvel -Schebler TSX-811 carb on it. I looked on this site and they list a kit that will work for TSX 374, TSX 775 and TSX811. Will this one kit work in all 3 different carbs?? Kit was about $26.50, rebuilt carbs were about $160. Just want to make sure I order the right one. Thanks, Chris

Chris: No; The 550 tractors with the 3-1/2 inch bore engine (1958 models) have a smaller venture size than the later ones. Check & see what both of the serial numbers are and just to be sure measure the center to center spacing on the 2 mounting bolts. My e-mail is open J.

Yes, this basic kit will work for all three carbs. Technically the TSX811 and TSX775 had a different throttle shaft than the TSX374 (the throttle shaft is part of this basic kit), but they are very similar. Furthermore, the comprehensive kits are worth a look, they cost more but have all the correct parts for their respective carb#.
