The end of the drive shaft is broke off. Can I remove it and run the tractor without it until I find one? Will it do anything to my hydraulic pump?

It is probably the front spline that is broke? If so there is nothing to drive the pump so it will not hurt the pump.

Yes J. It is the front. Funny think is I didn't find it when I pulled the engine. Now I'm thinking of pulling it apart to make sure it's not in the trans drive shaft.
