A good solid tractor that is easy to work on and it has a reliable Hercules motor. My favorite model. About 2950 were made.
There are diesels around (a friend bought one last year). The International Cockshutt Club is quite active with some members offering a good supply of parts, both used and reproduction. For a good overview of the Cockshutt history, get the book "Cockshutt: The Complete Story".

One of the best of them all. Nebraska test is phenomenal for traction. I have all the 500 series with 2 550s and 2 540s. Just an excellent lineup.

I do not think there was a utility 550. There for you must mean a high crop . My row crop 550 is one of the handiest and easiest tractors to use of all mine. Think only the 540 was made in utility style. Other than normal care of oil changes replacing brake oil seals and engine rear main seal was about all I have had to replace . I will add that mine bought well used and NOT cared for was the most neglected tractor ever purchased.
