I am looking at a Oliver 880 for sale. Was told the tractor sat for some time and when they first got it out the dual range did not shift. After using it for a while it began to work. Is this normal? Also are there any front weights on these that can be used? Can't find any data on the hydraulics or how much the 3 point can lift. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Take the cover off the power booster. Put two drops of motor oil on the shaft where things slide. No more than two drops. Things should works better.

Is your 3 point an aftermarket add on, or is it factory Oliver? If it is an Oliver hitch is it the the Hydra-Hitch, or the Power-Traction hitch? Also the Oliver hitches could have 3" bore cylinder or 4" bore cylinder. Also what it CAN lift, and what it SHOULD lift are not always the same thing. I would say you would be safe at 600-800 pounds with a factory hitch, but that is only a guess. You could go to the University of Nebraska Lincoln web site and check the Nebraska test data to see if they checked that, but I don't remember seeing it in there.
