Super 99 and 990 Axles

The thread size and pitch are the same. The later 990 axles had more threads and a thicker nut. The socket size also increased. The axles can be interchanged, you may need to swap the bearings because they are heavier duty.

I think they are 2" dia. and 12 threads per inch. I think the axle tapers are the same, just different on the thread length. My parts book lists 4 different part #'s. I ended up changing one of mine on my 990 because one had long threads and the other short threads and I wanted them to match, another one of my not to brite moments. I heard that they machined a bunch with short threads and rather then scrap them they put them on and if a person had trouble with them they came out and installed a new longer threaded one? I doubt if many came loose cause they are a b--ch to get off.

My tractor is the S99 but had the nuts with the locks on them so I wasn?t sure if they were the same axles or not...I am going to need to clean up the threads is why I wondered what the thread size and pitch was...thanks all for replies
