front end swap on 1650

Going to switch out a narrow front for a wide front. My question is when I have the front end off should I replace anything while the tractor is a part? Recommendations?

You might want to take the PS cylinder out then, put kit in, maybe hone the cylinder if needed.. pretty easy job and insures THAT part is all good.

Like CO said,at the very least replace the quad ring in the cylinder, but you can buy the entire o-ring and quad ring kit most places for $25. No big deal at all to rebuild. Tap the end cap in,take out the wire ring, then tap the whole unit down on end between two blocks and it'll all pop apart.

Would also replace the pair of pittman shaft needle bearings and seals (2 each) that sit under the PS cylinder. About $75.

To pull the PS cylinder out for rebuild do I need to pull the radiator? Can I pull the shaft out and pull the cylinder with radiator still in? I just got done wrestling the radiator but after I got done I noticed PS leaking. I know, I should have checked it while I was in there but time and below zero were not in my favor.

I usually pull the radiator and leave the grill on. Take the cap off the top of the cylinder, loosen the big bolt,it'll come up tight again. Keep going. It works as a puller. Pop the gear off and then lift the cylinder out.
