310 replacement engine

purchased an 1800A diesel this last fall. It has a replacement engine in it. The engine tag has Waukesha, and Dresser logo's on it, and shows VRD 310, spec G-35051, serial #, 298672. My question is this engine new enough to have all the updates on it? The injection pump needs a governor ring update. Just trying to predict how much it will take to have a reliable engine? Well first thing I would do is check where the oil pressure regulator would be on the right side. Does it have a pipe plug there instead of a hex plug? Also I don't know if they changed this on the naturally aspirated engines. Where are you located?

Thanks for the reply John. I live in Central Wisconsin, but am at work until Sat. morning. Will check then. Too cold to do more than take a quick look in an unheated shed. Steve.

how about the piston pin bushings

Checked out the location of the oil pressure regulator. This engine has a small pipe plug instead of a hex cap. Thanks, Steve.
