Does anyone have the torque specs/pattern for the head and any other pertinent torque specs for the top end?

Thanks

I can't find your email address anywhere. I'll just go with your spec and do a circular pattern to torque it down. Is there a spec for valve clearance?

Thanks

One more question.

I found this plug of sorts that I think was in a hole in the front of the head that leads to the oil galley which feeds an external line to lubricate the waterpump. When I took the valve cover off I saw it sticking up and when I touched it it fell over. At the time I didn't take notice if it had come from that hole or not. It has a piece of copper wire through it.

Any idea of the purpose of it, was it supposed to be in there? As you can see I haven't cleaned it yet to see what the material it's made out of is. My first guess would be a peice of leather. Unless it's some sort of felt material I don't know how oil would get into that port to lubricate the waterpump. Unless there is some sort of channel in the head that I can not see which runs from back to front.

Sorry I can't post the image direct. I don't have a hosting source anymore since the photobucket debacle. The best I can do is to link to it where I could store it on another site. It won't allow me to directly post the image here.

(quoted from post at 18:40:06 01/22/18) My Oliver 80 shop manual gives the head bolt torque as being 82 foot pounds.

Did this spec include the studs at the water pipe on top of the head. I torqued them down to the same spec since they are head bolts but it appears to have pulled down the ears on on the water pipe
