Distributor not turning update

Ok guys, I pulled the distributor and it?s not the roll pin. Is my next step to pull the oil pan and take the oil pump off? Will it be obvious that gears on the oil pump are stripped? What?s the likelihood the camshaft gear is damaged too? Thanks again for your help.

Did you not notice the post where JS asked about oil pressure?

I have one Oliver oil pump which requires a new slot cutting for the woodruff key. I don?t know if your pump is of similar construction.

No your next step is now that the distributor is out have someone hit the starter while you look down in the distributor hole and see if the oil pump and or the camshaft is turning.

Ok here?s the results. The distributor and camshaft gears are both stripped. I have some questions for you. I have a big repair manual for that tractor. I?m just looking for a brief overview of what I?m in for. I?m going to check the main and rod bearings for damage. Am I correct in figuring the oil pump seized? Can I put a used camshaft in it? Can I pull the camshaft out without a major tear down. Does it pull out the front? Would you rebuild the oil pump or replace? Thanks for getting me started.

Cam comes out the front. The pan will need to come off. You have a warm place to work? If so I would take the engine out. You can send me an e-mail. J.

take pictures and video everything.

might as well do it up right...clean and repaint...replace any bolts/nuts/washers that can be replace with stainless...good...no great time to replace any steel lines that look aged...you get the idea.

I'd power wash it before tearing it down and even then, it will need degreasing.
