2150 recites totaled

Some of you came close. KRM was the closest. My recites totaled $36,025 for all the recites I could find. I am pretty careless with them so I figured I probably lost or thru away another $1,000 worth but $36025 is what I could find. The biggest were $10,000 for the tractor, Maibach tractor $6,500, tires $5,000, paint $2200, new rear rims, cast centers, wedges and grade 8 bolts $2000. That leaves $15,325 of smaller recites. Thanks for all the responses, it was fun.

Beautiful job! I really enjoyed the progress pictures. I am glad someone can bring them back to this level of quality. At first when I collected I restored a couple of tractors but not to this level. I had to hire much of the work and since I did some of the painting, and didn't know what I was doing, they didn't last as well as I had hoped. Now, for my budget I collect originals. I admit that I envy ones like yours at shows and nobody notices mine but I have to be OK with that. Keep up the good work! I am glad someone has the budget and talent to make a true showpiece like this.

First let me say that it is a beautiful job.None better that I have seen, but a figure that sticks out for me is Paint $2200, and I'm not doubting it at all. People come to me all the time and ask,how much does it cost to paint a tractor? When I tell them that the primer, paint and materials will be about $1000,00 for a small tractor, they go crazy. You definitely get what you pay for.

So in other words, you won't take my check for $17355?---Tee

You have a very nice tractor and very talented. I wish I had the ambition to take on a project like that. If I had a choice between yours and a new tractor I would take yours any day.

Part of the reason the paint cost was so high was that every piece was taken apart and blasted then primed and painted individually. A lot of the paint went out the exhaust fan painting all the small pieces individually. I did it that way because I could blast pieces in my cabinet individually and take them to my buddy's body shop and he painted them there. He then came to my shop and painted all the big pieces there. He did all the sheet metal and the fender fuel tanks at his shop also. He primed all the heavy castings with epoxy primer. The wet look hardener that we used was over $50 a pint. All the paint used was way over $100 a gallon. A lot of the pieces got 3 coats I think. He spent a lot of time on the sheet metal. I could not ask for any better paint job then he did for me. He said he never used so much paint before to paint a tractor, but he never painted a tractor piece by piece either. I did all the mechanical, tear down, cleaning, blasting, and reassembly, but he's the one that made it look so good with his paint job. I am not a big fan of blasting a whole tractor with most of it still assembled, but that just me. I Don't know if I would ever do another tractor like this again, but then again if I ever found a 2255 with MFWD I might.

When I go to shows I enjoy all the tractors , original or restored no matter what degree of restoration. I realize as I get older that the person with the spray bomb restoration has just as much rite to be proud of his tractor as I am of mine. I feel that I have been truly blessed that I have the talent and the friends to do a tractor like I do. I have enjoyed posting on this site the progress of my tractors. Thanks again for all the responses.

Nice job I restored a super 66 diesel im afraid to add it up went alittle over board we have to save these tractors

Sounds about right. I put about $10,000+ into my 1600 back about 15 years ago, and that didn't include rear tires as dad paid for those for me. Prices have only gone up since then.

Your buddy must treated you pretty well on the paint job. I've hired tractors painted and painted them myself. For a tractor the size of your 2150 that sounds dirt cheap.

That was just the price of the paint. He never charged no labor as I did all the mechanical work and blasting on a 4020 he restored and didn't charge him any labor. We exchange labor a quite a bit. I made out pretty good as he had a lot more time in the painting and the sheet metal than I did in the mechanical work. He's a great guy and a great body man.

I wonder what it would sell for at auction...I'd expect a couple hundred thousand...some puller would love it.
