Have an oc6 that needs trans work. Same gears as an 88. What's the chance That I can use the helical gears from an 88? I know I need the whole set with the shafts, but is that it or am I missing something.

How well have you researched this? Remember the transmission case for the 880 spur gear unit is not the same as it is for an 880 helical transmission.

OC6 is modeled after a 77. Fella I bought my OC46 from was fixing up an OC6 that had a bad trans/final drive so he bought a good trans/final drive from a 77 wheel tractor and he said it wasn't the same. Something about the overall length that one was about 1/2" longer? and it wouldn't work. Weather or not the shafts are different that he didn't talk about. I was always under the assumption that an OC6 was exact same as a 77 but on tracks be he claimed otherwise.

What I have learned. The only thing 77 about the oc6 is the engine. Sheet metal is different. Engine tub is shorter. rear end housing is based on the 88, but is a different casting. trans gears are same as 88 but I don't know about the shafts. One thing I have learned for sure dealing with olivers, all the parts that are supposed to be the same and interchange, don't on the one your working on.

I am researching it now by asking questions. No, I didn't know the 880 cases were different for the different gears.
