1650 stalling issue

I have a 1650 gas. Almost 50% of the time, on a fully warmed up engine, the motor stalls out when letting out the clutch. It also stalled out when raising the loader. The motor will start back up fine, but needs full choke to do so. Blows black smoke and runs rough for a few seconds, then straightens out. The carburetor has been rebuilt. Is this a governor or a carburetor problem? Thanks for the help.

if the carb is adjusted right you probably have a vacuum leak where the carb bolts to the intake manifold or between the manifold and head.

Can?t say for the later tractors, but the Ollie 90 often did that until a choke pull wire was connected for operation from the platform. A quick pull on the choke wire sorted it. Possibly you need to just richen your mixture very slightly. Now whether the slow running or power side, is up for guessing.

Good advice from the other posters. We had the same issue in a 1650 to run a mixer. As we get 10% ethanol, the carb needs the jet bored out the be able to use a bigger volume of fuel. If you run it too lean under load you will burn an exhaust valve. BTDT

Good luck
