I promised Lewis a couple pics of the reversed Cockshutt 30 I mad back in the 80s. Finally learning how to post photos...

Rich that is definitely a different animal. I can't see the steering wheel or the seat in the pictures. Which end is the front? Does it have 2 forwards or 2 reverses? HA!HA!

The differential assembly is flipped over, so it goes like a forklift now, eight forward and two reverse. Steering wheel is low, below the tires. Used a mower drive right angle gearbox from an old MF 7 mower deck. Reversed the clutch and brake pedals to the rear. Engine was completely overhauled and been on LP ever since. Originally built the tractor for mowing yard as where I lived before I had over two acres to mow. Home made deck was seven foot wide and mounted on lowered Cockshutt cultivator brackets, a large Case combine pulley on the PTO with idlers similar to a Cub Cadet for the belt drive. If I recall I first mowed with it in summer of 1985, sure was faster than the 48 inch deck I used before..

Hi Dieseltech,

There was a backward COCKSHUTT 30 forklift on sisplay at the Wapakoneta, Ohio Summer Show when COCKSHUTT was the feature tractor and it was the COCKSHUTT CLUB's Annual Meet in 1996 and 2006................Is this the same tractor?

I own a COCKSHUTT 540 backwards fork lift. It is my "regular user" here to move all my heavy old COCKSHUTT tractor salvage around. Mine works GREAT...It is a "Henry" fork that was mounted years ago, It has a front shaft crank drive hydraulic pump, factory power steering, heavy weight box in front of the Rad., fork side shift, and fork tilt My 540FL was on display at the Chambersburg, PA COCKSHUTT CLUB SHOW in 2002, when is was owned by Roy "Butch" Jackson, Felton, PA.

YES! I was at the Wapakoneta show with it in 2006, still had the loader bucket on then as I also demonstrated how I change my shop light bulbs by standing in the bucket, using a pipe while standing in the bucket to raise-lower myself for bulb changes. Close friend Chuck Smith begged me to take it. Last time I talked to him there will be a Cockshutt show at Rochester IN in June 2018. That's just fifteen miles from here so it will be there too. Really need to get it painted some day, but I enjoy it as is. Really makes some guys scratch there heads!

Hi Dieseltech,

Thanks for your info. I believe that you have a late ('54, '55, or '56) "30" because of the heavy hubs on the front wheels,...........NOW back wheels.

It has been too many years since I attended the Hoosier Co-op Jamboree. Hopefully, I can attend in June 2018, and bring some Co-op/Cockshutt parts along.
