The seals are out of one of the steering cylinders, bad enough that it leaves a trail. We have the seals but can't get the pins out on the ends, we will probably need to cut them out but ther are no pin available. We did a dealer search also and came up blank. Any ideas what to do. We have thought of just using a large bolt and bushings. we don't use it on the road much so it would be just chasing it down the field. Any ideas would be appreciated. Jim

Not sure if they are the same but try going to a JD dealer and see if they have pins for an 8640 JD. In my former days as a partsman I think I had a customer with a Steiger and the pins were the same.

If I remember correctly the pins are tapered where they fit into the "W" steering arm. Larger at the bottom, so pins go "down". Check with the techs at Maibach in Creston OH, but I think our guys heated the "w" member then gave it a good whack near the pin boss kind of like you do with tie rod ends. Left the dealer in '91 so some stuff the wasn't every day is getting fuzzy.

Soak it in Kroil from Kano Labs.

Give it time to soak, and possibly heat it with a torch, re-apply, and let it sit.

take your time, only one chance to get it right!
