My first Oliver

Just acquired my first Oliver this past weekend. A 1949 Oliver 77 RC w/ Hydra electric and duel rears. A friend of 35+ years, his grandfather bought it new in 49. Have been trying to buy this tractor for over 10 years. His grandfather passed about 5 years ago and everything went into his state. His father always told me he would make sure I ended up owning the Oliver. Sadly his dad passed last year unexpectedly and his two brothers were set to send everything to auction. The two brothers gave family members the option to buy items before the auction. My friend bought the Oliver and passed it on to me this past weekend and he said it was his dad wish that I owned the Oliver. What a Weekend. All I can say is I wish his dad was still here as we can't get the darn thing started! Has only been run once in the last 16 years. 6 years ago his dad pulled it out of the barn and had it running in 10 minutes. Took it to the county fair and drove it in a tractor parade. This weekend had a fully charged battery, Current to side post on distributor, no spark across points. Then we just lost current out of coil to distributor, but still have current from ignition to coil. What happened?? Tractor is still in Maryland at my friends place. Won't be up home till Christmas to work on it. Best place to buy Manuals?? Wiring diagrams??

Could be a few different things mostly minor after its been sitting. What part of VA are you located? If not too far I'd be willing to give you hand getting it started if
you wanted.

Thanks for the offer to help. The tractor is still in Maryland at my friends farm. I live in Gloucester county Virginia.

It could be a little corrosion on the points try cleaning them you say there is current to the coil and no spark indicated points not making contact.
