To all the Oliver lovers does anyone have any tricks to get the 8 bolts out to split the tractor. Thats all that is left but holy cow I think the jolly green giant put them in cause they wont move, so far tried a impact, two linked wrenches, 3/4 and 1/2 drive sets and broke a extension and a impact universal, and them bolts say we arent moving. Once again any thoughts would be good.

I've never split an Oliver except the small utilities. Just curious why you need to split one. They so seldom have to be.

My guess is that it is a FWD? You can't pull the bevel pinion shaft or work on it as you can not remove the transfer case with out splitting it. Atleast that's why I had to split my 1950GM.

Why else would you have to split it?

O. K. WE Had a stand made to split one. This came about when Oliver introduced the revised pressure lube package for the 880 tractors. YOU had to split them to install the package. Also the same on the early 18 & 1900 tractors. When you want to remove the top shaft in the transmission and the tractor has either a Hydra-power or an over under you don't have enough room to remove the shaft. You have 2 options. option one is remove the engine or option 2 let the engine in the front frame and split the tractor. We split them because we had the equipment to do it. Those ferry bolts are tight1 300 pound feet of torque as MIke mentioned. Oliver recommended a special 3/4 drive 12 point impac socket to do this and before we bought one of those sockets we broke sockets and drives as well. For the one time deal remove the engine. If this is your business, split it. Questions?

We need it split for the top shaft and thanks for the replys, 300 ft pounds oh boy Im in for a treat...lol. The reason for splitting over engine removal is everything is already off it so 8 bolts is all im lacking, I have the stuff to split it as well. Thanks again for the responses.

We just took the tub off a 2-105 and the boys were having trouble with those bolts so I got them a pipe and one stood in the cab and run the pipe to the breaker and pushing they wouldn't loosen till he gave it a little snap.
