Can someone tell me anything about this engine? Appears to have a psb pump but a different head.

That style head is called the ?Ricardo? system, and was the
standard type of Waukesha engine until Oliver came into the
picture and used the ?Lanova? style diesel head.

The Oliver engines used the same pistons in gas and diesel
for many years because of the Lanova heads; whereas the
Ricardo head used special pistons. Not also that the Lanova
was a crossflow head, while Ricardo was not.

Thank you. That is very interesting. Do you have an opinion on which one is better? The engine is for sale on Wyoming heavy equipment Craigslist if anyone is interested. I just purchased a 66 engine and think I better recoop before I get another one.

W/O knowing a thing about the "Ricardo" one might think the direct injection would have been preferable to what Oliver had? gm

Researching as to why Oliver chose to use Lanova, one source said that the Lanova might have started easier.
There is probably no single reason. Even factors such as royalties on the Ricardo Comet design versus Lanova
might have been a reason.
Lanova designs were used on Buda-powered tractors (Allis Chalmers, Cockshutt, Oliver 80 diesel) and Case,
Continental engines (Massey-Harris, IH 350 diesel). And maybe others.

That engine should fit right in an 88/S88/880 series chassis. Of course the exhaust is in the wrong place, and
maybe the intake as well.
