Oliver get together this weekend

Dad wanted me to invite anyone who might be in the Kansas City area this Saturday to stop by the farm and join the Oliver get together that he and mom are hosting this weekend. The farm is south of KC about 40 miles, so if you happen to be in the area please let us know and we’ll get you directions. Here are some pics of our tractors that will be on display.

If I wasn't so far away I would love to come. We're still trying to get corn out. Between wet fields and the elevators all getting full it has become a long drawn out process.

I used to work for Bill Corbin at Archie Imp. Co. many moons ago. Ya'll aren't in the Merwin/Drexel area by any chance? gm

Yep, the farm is about 3 or 4 miles due west of Corbin’s old house. Dad says come by if you can. He’d like to talk to you about his red Oliver 1865 to see if you were around when it first came into this part of the country.

I wasn't able to get loose but I called Mike Kircher and he talked like he was coming. I don't remember the Red one but I do remember over-hauling the O/U in an 1855 or 1955 or a close relative to those once back around 72 or so. It was hot to the touch so it came back and I opened it up again and Bill couldn't find anything wrong with it when HE looked at it. He called Duane Star, the head Oliver service guy at the time, (and regular on here), to find out that Oliver had raised the thermostat temp at that time to a hotter temp. I don't remember 190* perhaps. Anyway, I got to R&R your dad's 1955 O/U and take it apart all for the lack of having seen the service bulletin. Maybe some day I can get over that way. I have a lot of memories from my short time there. I was even married to a girl from Merwin for several years. Anyway, hope you had a good turn out. Small world. gm
