Oliver 1850-recent purchase question

I will admit, I am not a oliver person at all, but recently I had the chance to purchase a 1850 Diesel from a estate. It has a WL 42 Westendorf Loader, which is really about the only thing that I wanted. I don't have it home yet as this next week I should be able to get it. Anyways, long story short, the old Oliver is kind of growing on me after thinking about it. It does have the fuel tank fenders, however it has a different cab then I've ever seen. I'll post pictures when I get it home, but to describe it, the doors and back windows are at a slant. I'm sure you oliver guys know what I'm talking about better than I can describe it. Anyways, is that cab a factory cab or who made that cab? Also for that 1850, after doing some research, seems to me the tractor has a lot of good opinions. The only thing I'm worried about if I do keep it as a second loader tractor, how hard are parts to find for it? Pretty sure that I can find a lot online, but as far as filters etc go, pretty much any parts store? Sorry for the dumb questions here, just new to the Oliver. Thank you in advance

Wix has all the filters,so any auto parts stores should be able to get them if they don't have them on the shelf. I guess I've been farming with them for so long that I just take these things for granted, but I don't even think twice about parts for them. Agco has most of the things that you'd buy new for any brand or color. There are enough parts yards around specializing in Oliver,to make all the other parts available that you would probably buy used for any brand because of the price and durability anyway.

One thing to know, try to always put it in under when you clutch. The clutch will last longer and it will be easier to shift. The 1850 might have been the best one Oliver ever built.

I buy most of my oliver parts from Maibach tractor in Ohio. It's probably 6 hours from here, and I've never been there. They ship everything to me. I've said before that I think Agco supports their old tractors better than John Deere. Maibach will have anything you could possibly need for that tractor.

Thank you for all the information you guys have given me. Any ideas what kind of cab it might be? Is that a oliver cab then? It's the "hexagon" type cab, where the doors are at a angle as well as the back windows and has the narrow windshield

I know what cab you are talking about, but can't remember the brand. If you are on fb, join the Oliver tractors group. Those guys can answer any question you have. The big name experts who get mentioned on here, are on there almost every day.

Sounds like an Oliver Farmers Cab to me. Are their any decals on the fenders that say that? They had them from the factory. Personally I think they were a pretty nice cab.

I can't remember if there were any decals on it or not to be honest. I'll post some pictures of it when I get it home this week.

In addition on parts ebay has lots of new and used parts for Oilvers, there are a couple guys there that regularly part out Olivers and also advertise here on YT.

my cab is odd...no idea what it's called...just a box that sits on the fenders and hood...great glass all round, windows slide in some kind of rubber tire looking tracks...no heat or ac and doesn't go down any farther than the fenders and hood.

Believe it or not, O'Reilly's auto parts has order in everything I've asked them about...if its transportation they can get a part and usually much less expensive than any tractor supply store. Just replaced the alternator...about 50 bucks cheaper than anyone else and I looked around. I don't think they go by the same thinking that you needing it and it being hard to find means jack the price up (just don't think the look at what others are selling things for). Anderson's around Wapakoneta Ohio must have 400 used cabs in all different conditions, they can't tell you much about anything specific, but...it's an education.

My local glass cutter would probably be able to get any glass although he at times prices himself right out of things...I'd ask him first probably.
