50 series hydraulic question

Here is the scenario. When plowing with either my 1850 or 1650 with a semi-mount plow, when I reach the headland and raise the plow with the three-point arms and then try to lift the rear of the plow with the cylinder on the back of the plow the three-point arms stop lifting. Is there an adjustment that can be made so both can function at the same time? Or is this one of the quirks of the 50 series hydraulic system that people complain about?
This isn't a big deal, we've used it like this for many years, just asking the question.
Thanks

Look at the third post below this one. The schematic may help you. The way the fluid flows the left remote has priority over the right, right over three point.

I had the same complaint about the hydraulics on my Oillie 1950. It was great day when it went down the road and JD4240 arrived to replace it.

Just remember you are dealing with an open center hydraulic system. When you want to have 2 functions at the same time the one that needs the least amount of pressure will happen first. Now look at Mikes diagram. You will note the valve spools for the remote cylinder have holes drilled in them which means they are in series. That means the return oil if the left side is being used as it returns to the right side thus both will work at the same time. On the comment about the Deere it is a closed center system. That is one advantage of closed center. A 1755 and larger 55 series is also closed center system.

Thanks J for the explanation. Makes sense that oil will take the path of least resistance in an open center system.
Another thought/question what if a 50 series hydraulic system is setup with an additional valve through the power beyond. Would it be possible to raise the three point arms and an external cylinder at the same time? Neither one of my tractors are plumbed for power beyond, just asking out of curiosity.
Thanks
